Devotional -Snapshot 24 - Prayer

"The real problem of the Christian life comes where people do not normally look for it. It comes the very moment you wake up each morning. All your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job each morning consists simply in shoving them all back; in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other larger, stronger, quieter life come flowing in." Joy C. S. Lewis

"But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers."
1 Peter 4:7

The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self controlled . Why? So we can debate Christ with the unbelieving world; so we can be better examples of Christ; so we can love better? No! The answer according to this scripture is so we can pray.

Just a moment ago when I decided to come over to the church and pray the thought struck me: "What a waste of time." That was a demonic thought! The facts are just the opposite! Warfare and work for the kingdom are best done in prayer. Not a waste, but a necessity! Not a waste, but a privileged opportunity! Not a waste, but a joy!

"But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." Luke 5:16

If some of you ladies are into scrapbooking, why not make a prayer album? Get pictures of those you want to pray for. Find a verse to write under their picture. Pray that verse into their life. Decorate as much or as little as you like. I have found it so helpful to stay on target and not to wander when their face is right in front of me. The verses help to keep my prayers word centered and ministers to me as well.
